Gather Your Supplies
You’ll need the following:
- Rags, paper towels, or scrub pads that you can toss out afterward
- Microfiber cloths for dusting and drying
- Cleaning supplies, including dish soap, a degreaser, and a disinfectant
- A stepladder
- Two buckets
- Rubber gloves
- A scrubbing pad and scrubbing brush
- An old toothbrush
- Warm water
- Vinegar
- A spray bottle
Mix equal parts of water and vinegar in a spray bottle and fill one bucket with warm soapy water and one with clean water. Ready, steady, clean!
Dust and Vacuum
Your first cleaning task is to pull out the stepladder and clean those hard-to-reach areas like your windows, ledges, cabinet tops, and light fixtures. These are the areas you never get around to normally, so add them to your deep cleaning checklist.
We’re not suggesting using soapy water here because balancing on a ladder with a bucket of suds can prove challenging. Wiping away the dust and vacuuming after should do the trick.
Clean the Faucets

Vent Covers

Sofa and Chairs
Take the cushions off and vacuum the seams and creases. Move the sofa to clean under it and behind it.
Cabinets and Drawers
Remove everything from your cabinets and drawers so you can vacuum them and wipe them down. Leave them open to dry and air while you clean off the cabinet fronts using a damp cloth and your detergent.
Oven

Grout Between the Tiles

Shower Curtain
